Shelves hold devices. Drop a compact UniFi switch/gateway onto a shelf (green dashed box previews the spot). They're half-width, so two sit side-by-side on one shelf. Hover a shelf and click ⇅ to flip it: insert = gear sits in the shelf's own U; on-top = gear sits in the U above, leaving the shelf's U open below for taller gear. Drag a hosted device off to free-mount it.
Wiring has two separate modes. Click 🔵 Network to show every network port — a 12-port patch panel shows all 12 — then click one port and another to run a blue cable. Click 🔴 Power for red power cables. Click a cable to delete it.
